Dr Kevin Fernando

GP with Specialist Interest in Diabetes/CVRM & Medical Education

Kevin is a portfolio GP (NHS & private) near Edinburgh. He is also Content Advisor for WebMD Medscape Global & UK and Honorary Clinical Reader at the University of Dundee.  He is cofounder of CVRMUK (https://cvrmuk.com) which aims to empower HCPs to take a person-centred approach to managing CVRM conditions and drive a new model of specialty training and care delivery in the CVRM space.

Kevin is a regular keynote speaker at small and large-scale education events throughout the UK & Ireland and abroad.  His main specialist topics include all aspects of care for people living with type 2 diabetes & CVRM conditions and interpretation and management of commonly abnormal blood tests in primary care.

Kevin is an accomplished medical writer, and his articles distil key guidelines and consensus for primary care as well as summarise congress highlights and breaking research and its applicability to primary care. Additionally, Kevin has co-authored several articles published in peer-reviewed journals covering multiple aspects of type 2 diabetes & CVRM care in primary care.

Kevin is renowned for creating concise clinical aide memoirs (https://www.medscape.co.uk/viewarticle/primary-care-hacks-2024a1000gqy) to make life easier for HCPs and ultimately to improve the lives of our patients.

Kevin is very active on social media (X handle @drkevinfernando) where he posts hot topics in type 2 diabetes & CVRM.  He recently has forayed into YouTube (@DrKevinFernando) and TikTok (@drkevinfernando) with patient-facing video content.

Kevin graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 2000 and holds both MRCGP and MRCP(UK) qualifications and has completed a Master’s degree in diabetes which he passed with distinction.  Kevin is also SCOPE certified in obesity management.

Kevin has been elected to Fellowship of the Royal College of General Practitioners, the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh and also the Academy of Medical Educators for his work in diabetes and medical education.

Dr Javaid qualified from Cambridge University and completed his VTS training in Northampton. He has a specialist interest in cardiology and echocardiography and was a clinical lead in the Northamptonshire Community Cardiology service, which had a focus on patients with heart failure and valve disease. He was also the primary care Cardiovascular lead for the East Midlands Clinical Network from 2013-2020. He was named Pulse “GP of the Year” in 2015 for his work in reducing stroke emergency admissions in the East Midlands. He is on the editorial board for the British Journal of Cardiology and a trustee of Heart Valve Voice.

Do You Provide Recordings Of The Zoom Webinar?

None of our webinars are recorded, due to the presentations being copyright and therefore the intellectual property of our speakers.

Do I Get A Refund If I Cancel?

All paid course fees are NON-REFUNDABLE and NON-TRANSFERABLE. Our fees are so nominal, they cover administration costs of the event, which have already been incurred (e.g., Admin time/Website Costs/Card Payment Processing Fees). Please let us know if you are unable to attend, as it will allow your place to be allocated to another delegate. If you fail to attend a paid course, you will still have access to the course downloads. If you fail to attend a free course, you will not have access to any post course materials. To notify us that you cannot attend the course, please send an email to webinar@mediconf.co.uk

How Do I Access My Certificate And Course Materials?

After attending one of our courses, certificates of attendance and any course materials are available for 6 months for sole sponsored events and 12 months for all other events ONLY. After the course date, please log onto the Members Area of our website, to obtain your documents. If you require a duplicate copy of your certificate, an admin fee of £15.00 will be charged. This payment can be made over the telephone using all major cards.
