Studies show that female victims of domestic abuse will not disclose themselves but they are waiting to be asked and they consider their GP Practice a safe place to be able to discuss what is going on at home for them. Do you feel confident in bringing up the topic? And responding to disclosures? Is it an automatic referral to Adult Social Services in every case? What can we do to support male victims? And what if there are children but Mum says they are sleeping when the abuse occurs – what actions do you need to take in that situation?
If an adult patient says their partner tried to strangle them, how would we deal with that? Does it make any difference if it happened one week ago or one month ago? And what red flag signs and symptoms do we need to look out for?
I will answer all these questions and more in this Level 3 Adult and Children’s Safeguarding training.
